How to Make ISK in EVE Online
2010 - 2 - 1Eve Online, by CCP incorporated, is a massively multiplayer online game (MMO). In EVE, like in all MMOs, money makes the world go around. In this case, money is called ISK instead of dollars or gold. If you are new to the game and want to know how you are going to afford all those fancy ships and implants, there are the major ways to get ahead.
Mining
Step 1 Mining is perhaps one of the simplest and most effective ways for new players to build up a pile of ISK. You can use almost any ship, including the new player ships that you start with. Each race has a frigate and cruiser that specializes in mining.
After you move further into the game, you'll find ORE ships with increased mining bonuses and capacities, but to make ISK efficiently, you want a cheap expendable ship you can get qualified for quickly.
Step 2 Once you have your ship, you can head to almost any system with an asteroid belt and start mining. Equip some mining lasers and bring along a few light drones to protect against enemy ships---rats.
You can also run missions (level 1) with the local mining organization (Astral Mining in Gallente space), which will produce instanced asteroid belts that you will have all to yourself once you clear them out. Be careful not to turn the mission in until you are done mining them.
Step 3 As a solo miner you will spend a lot of time loading up and hauling back and forth your precious minerals. You can speed this up by actually dumping your ore into a canister (jet canning) and then using a larger hauling ship to bring it all back at once. Remember that cans expire after 60 minutes so you need to transfer them to a new can if they get close to expiring.
Step 4 Refine and sell your ore. In high security space you want to try to get as much Veldspar as you possibly can because it has the best resale value. It refines into tritanium which is used in almost everything.
